well done! not an easy task ...hope all your fingers are still intact!
cheers
Yo guys!!!
ok ok i know that your all curious.
I rang a guy called "Rick" from ALL 4x4 spares in kotara, NSW 0249571117. He was extremely helpful and keen for the business. Sorry for the blatant plug!
I received in record time a brand new "THOR" 4.6 short motor with reco heads and 12 months warranty for $4400, I didnt even pay for freight! ( although i think this was just luck than on purpose). It was exchange, but then again thats another good thing because they paid for freight to get the old motor back to them!!!
I removed and replaced my entire motor in 4.5 days ( albeit not consecutively), in a single car garage, on my own. So if you would like to save some serious money yes its fairly easy to do it yourself!!!
if you have any questions send them along!!
Cheers boys
Ryan

When you say "new" thor short motor, do you mean new or reco'd? Mine's in great condition, but to find a new one would be a needle in a haystack kinda thing! Great work on the engine changeout in your garage too! I've been there with past cars of mine and feel your pain!
Cheers

Well done mate, engine swaps aren't an easy job in any car, and I can't imagine the Rover letting you get away with it easily
It's great to hear people are spinning some serious spanners on these things in their sheds. Gives me more confidence for my transmission rebuild/swap coming up.
Good work again.
Cheers,
Keels.
theres a few brand new ones in mel in LRs stock holds they cant get rid of, they were going cheap few months back,
parts like a new zf box 1000$
td5 short motor $500
i forgot how much the 4.6s were but they to were around the $1000
Yeah, if the 4.6's are going for a grand i'll buy one in anticipation now!! Same for the ZF... That's a steal! And i'm assuming they've been sitting for years anyway, what's a few more years!!
TR spares in SA are selling used 4.6s long motors for $3200 so $1000 for a new short engine would be good value.
