Wink The Pros and Cons of owning a Range Rover P38

    Hi all

I'm new to this forum and not actually an Aussie im a Swede and in fact from the other side of the globe!
However the P38 interest in many of the threds in this forum makes me feel
much closer (How could we live without internet back in the 80's).

I bought my -99 Range Rover HSE 4.6 (A Westminister edition) that had been preowned by four different people it had been driven about 90000km
and had 9 years on its neck when I got it, I immediately fell in love with that car.

The love turned in to hate the following winter when the HEVAC gave up and turned my car into a freezer and from that point of my ownership it has constanly shifted between love and hate.

I try to keep book of all my experience and have put most of it on my website at Range Rover P38 Maintenance repair improvements and tips learned by experience by ownership. read more about it there if you like it contaings various things like EAS and HEVAC maintenance and troubleshooting along with improvements like HID Xenon headlight upgrade.

    Regards/ Stefan

Welcome to forum. Quite a lot of work on your site there, should be a great help to P38 owners! Also I didn't know about the dual filament HID's, might have to check them out.

    Cheers.

    Smile WELCOME SIR SWEDE!

I knew that headlight split and paint could be done! Great effort, I will have to 'have a crack' one day and see how I go. Love that late model look...

If anyone out there wants to start a little light upgrade business there are plenty of the older ones popping up on e-bay UK on a fairly regular basis.

They tend to go VERY cheap too.

Good info on the HID lights too.

Welcome aboard the best P38 forum on the planet!!! If you haven't taught yourself about it already, it will probably be available somewhere (or from someone) on here.

Thanks for the link to your site, I also never knew you could get dual filament hids and great info on how to correct the light out warning. I am sure Paulp38a will use your info. Shame I cant get my head round it yet but still trying.
Your info and mod on the headlamps is also very useful, I will give that a go especially as I have been wondering how to get the lenses of as they are in desperate need of a clean on the inside

Thanks for the info. I had a couple of questions about your hid install. Do you have any delay flicking from low to high beam with them ? What's the focus like on high beam - is it a spread beam (short range) or tight like a laser (long range) compared to the original halogens ?

    Hi Stefan,

    Welcome on board
    I really like your website.
Did you get any improvement on mileage with those Halo spark plugs?

    Regards

    Florent

    HALO spark plugs

I have in fact not yet installed my Halo plugs.
However I used them in my previous car a BMW540iAT
and experienced a small improvement in fuel economy.
But the best thing with the Halos is there 150000km life!

I will report back as soon as I get some test results.
