    Message screen Black out

The main message screen on the dash has blacked out.
Is this a bulb failure, fuse? or something else. Can read very faintly upon very close inspection.
    Regards

Did it black out all at once?
I'm sure there's 2 backlight globes in there - my left side blacks out at times but comes good after a while.

If it failed all at once then it might not be a globe issue.

It was always dim on one side but now its totally dim.
and I suppose to replace the bulb requires the removal of the dash and half the internals of the car and its best to plan a week off work to attempt??? Funny it doesnt display that there is a fault in the message display

The three bulbs in the lower centre illuminate the message centre.

Thanks for the clarification, I suspected as such. Are the new bulbs available from repco or supercheap or are they something one needs to source from some obscure bulb distributor...any likely stockist advise would be appreciated.

    message centre

The bulbs are available at Supercheap at about $5.00 for 2. The ones I bought were only 2 watt.

The one you want for the Message Centre are 1.2 watt wedge base bulbs. My local Woolworths servo has them. They are as common as muck in Australia. The link Willem gave shows the type of bulb.

I was going to try white LEDs in mine one day. The next time I pull the dash perhaps.

In the photo above, the 3 watt bulbs are for the instrument panel backlighting.

Have been considering that myself, as the rest of the interior lights have been changed over to LED's. Wonder how they will cope with dimming?
