Any developments on this? I'd love to have working heated leather seats in Canberra - for those -10 winter mornings that are too cold to ride to work!

I have seen the elements for sale on ebay.co.uk at pretty reasonable prices.

Have also been guaranteed by Preferred workshop owner (who has wrecked heaps of P38's) that they are not in AUS spec cars.

Have never actually pulled a seat apart to check though.

Sorry, I updated the wrong thread a while back, here is the info.

Ill summarise, I bought a HEVAC unit with heater switches. To my suprise, the switches work, and the BeCM understands it, and all the wiring is there, and 13v power gets to the seat wiring connectors, but the seats dont heat up. I suspect I have broken heating elements.

I intend to find the fault in the element and reconnect. I have yet to answer Hoges' good question and test the element for continuity. I will tonight/tomorrow. I am confident that it will work.

    Passenger seat heating element fixed!

Passenger seat heating element fixed. I pulled the seat out and pulled the seat cushion leather off. I found that the element was broken in two very specific places, where it goes under the metal rod (twice) that separates the front and rear sections of the seat cushion.

It is easy to test, there is a black and red wired connector going up into the seat from underneath. Test those two wires for continuity. If there is none, your element is broken. You can solder in a piece of wire to repair. the heating element is very small wire, and it is coated in a plastic insulator like a normal electrical wire. I am quite confident that I will be able to remove the drivers leather cushion cover without removing the seat from the car.

The Aust spec HSEs have all the wiring, fuses, seat elements, BECM internals you need - all you need is a HEVAC with the heating buttons.

let us know how you get on with the drivers seat leather removal. I have the switches but neither seat works. If its an easy fix I might have a go as the weather is pretty cool at the mo, especially in the mornings
