    Replacing a Hevac LCD display.

    Wish i had a camera....

Today i was able to swap over an LCD display in my Hevac unit with one from a faulty unit. It is fairly straight foward, you only need a very small phillips screwdriver and paitence. The ribbon for the screen seems to be glued on, but it is also held in place with a few clips. I did not need to glue it back on.

And the best thing, it works when i got it back together.

I will take apart the faulty unit again and take some photos when i have a spare moment.

My display is also knackered and I am on the lookout for a usable screen with ribbon cable. I think its the ribbon cable thats the issue as I can get mine working in all areas but not at the same time

It sounds like you have poor contact between the ribbon and the board. The ribbon is held in with a white plastic clip, and a thin silicon rubber strip. Are these in good condition?

I dont have any more damaged ones atm, but try ebay uk, normally one or 2 on there.

I have had it all apart for a look see and the ribbon cable where it contacts with to the pcb is in a pretty grim state. looks like years of heat and vibration have taken their toll. I did post my findings on another thread and asked if anyone knew of a replacement cable with no luck
