    piggyback ecu

I recently fitted a haltech interceptor ecu to my 1997 autobiography mainly to try to improve fuel consumption and to get rid of a couple of flat spots in the rev range.
I do not have access to a dyno down here so I organised a mild tune map for petrol and an LPG specific ignition map to do me until I can get to a dyno for a proper tune.
Mileage running on gas has improved 40%, no figures as yet for petrol but the flat spots have gone and running seems smoother.
Anyone else have any experience with the device, good or bad?
I hope it's OK to mention the product, I apologise if not.

Yes there are a few of us running the haltech with mixed results. Do a search on haltech and you find some dyno runs. I run mine with gas and petrol.

Any issues getting the Haltech to talk with the BeCM or other ecu's?? I thought it'd be a hard job!

no issues, pretty straight forward. Took about an hour to fit.
Only involves about seven wires and more or less just intercepts the signal from certain engine sensors and modifies the signal before relaying on to the gems ECU.
The main reason for installation is the ability to switch to a different ignition map when changing over to LPG.

Both. I had mine installed for ability to have dual ignition mapping, ie., altered ignition mapping for LPG. But Bruce Davis told me the mapping wasn't changed by the installer (not Bruce). I should go back to the installer and ask about it.

    Thanks Ron,

Was looking into a piggyback since there are pretty much no power chips for Thor P38's, might look further into it now! It could be the alternative!

    Cheers
