Valve block rebuild - be aware of this .....

Lately I've noticed one corner a bit higher than the rest in the morning, so I thought I would renew the valve block O'rings to sort it out.

I've done it before, so wasn't too worried about the procedure.

I am slow but methodical and usually take my time to get it right.

However, when I put it all back together, I was not getting any solenoid response on 2 and 3 ( LF, RR ).

I was fairly annoyed at this, as I had to pull it all back out to see what was wrong. My least favourite part of the job is taking out and re installing the air lines.

As it turned out, the 2 not working are the bottom ones (the 2 that are by themselves on the bottom).

I took them off, and dismantled the solenoids and I found that there is a tiny little black piece of plastice that sits in the end of the piston, that had come out of place. It was enough to stop the solenoids from working.

I have a couple of spares from an old valve block I have at the ready and after checking that their little plastic pieces were firmly in place, I swapped them over.

Everything worked percfectly well after that.

So, its worth making sure that this piece has not dislodged, or it will affect your valve block, particularly those 2, as they are upside down and more likely to fall out if they are loose.

Picture of the part attached. Its also worth noting that if you are putting them back they have to sit flush. There is a tiny groove that sticks out if you put it in the wrong way.

So I've basically written off my weekend on the Rangie, swapping out the radiator yesterday and spending most ( ok ALL ) of today on the valve block.

    Cheers
    Dave

    Bloody el! Dave

Do you have a wife or partner??

If so, what does she think of all the time you devote to the Rangie.

I know my missus would be asking questions by now. But then again my Rangie is hers too, so if it's not repaired then she can't drive it also.
