    alternator fried, where to buy

OK so at this rate im soon going to own a brand new p38, lol, ive replaced nearly every mechanical part of it since ive had it and now its the alternators turn, it's only charging 12 volts at idle, 13 at 1500 and 14 after 2000 and sounds like a supercharger, it should be charging 14.4 from idle onwards can anyone recommend the best place to get a replacement one for iteithe new or re manufactured . ive been searching the net and prices range between $200 and ridiculous.
    any help will be appreciated.
    cheers

If you can get one for $200 thats a pretty good price, or is that rebuilt.
I had mine rebuilt 5-6 years ago ($225) new bearings and voltage regulator.
Sounds like the bearings are bung on yours.
Your charge rate seems ok on the rates that you speak of as long as you are making 12.5v +ish at idle.

Do you have the original Magnetti Morelli on your RR?
Usually it is the voltage regulator that goes on them but with the noise that you are reporting i would say the bearings are giving out as well.
You can pretty much locate all the parts on line.

    Check Ebay

    Hi There,
There is a second hand 4.6 / 4.0 alternator on Ebay at the moment, "buy it Now" $220, not sure if that is any good to you, it's there if you go looking.
