Welcome aboard. I hate to be an alarmist, but regarding your brakes, I think you should boil the kettle, make a strong cup of tea and sit down and read this thread.....

All p38 owners up to mid 1999 please read.

If its the original brake modulator on your 95/96 model, then it would be wise to consider this repair. I have posted some pics in that thread from when I did the repair.

If your problem is the accumulator, it is quite common for the 2 brake warning lights to flash on momentarily if you brake heavily.

    accumulator

Thanks again. Are there not any accumulators available in Australia? Or are they too expensive here? How long should the ABS pump run upon start up. I read somewhere that this can be the clue to identifying a faulty accumulator?
I don't know if anyone has done it before but I just replaced the buttons on both my key remotes with silicone ones. Thought I did well paying $32 for both remotes and they are easy to fit, brings the remotes back to almost new!
I am also in need of an air filter cover, my original is broken as a result of a backfire which must have happened before I bought the vehicle. Any ideas where I may get one?
    Thanks guys.

Genuines are available from Land Rover for about $5 each .

They're readily available but are quite expensive out here, even from a non- LR dealer.
Usually, the first symptom of the accumulator getting weak is the hard brake pedal first thing in the morning. If this is the case, let the pump run for 15-30sec & it will build up pressure for braking.

    No problem .

The LR ones only last about 3 years in my experience so hopefully the silicone jobbies last longer.

My genuine LR ones only lasted a bit over 2 years.

I bought the silicon ones and they seem to be doing alright.

Main thing is, if they wear out don't wait too long to replace them.

    Smile Heater problems

Hello guys.....I am back. In an earlier post I spoke about my heater not working on the left side and that I thought it was a blend motor gone wrong, well I think it is still that but now the readout on the HEVAC is faulty sometimes, sometimes not, and I was just wondering if this could be related to the heater problems? Another thing I was wondering, has anyone had cause to repair the rear window demister? I have a couple of bars not working but I can't find any breaks using visual and multimeter methods. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If you mean the LCD display is playing up and intermittently displaying incomplete numbers etc, then this is quite common and unlikely related to the heating issues which is most likely the blend motors.

I live in Brisbane and would not have a clue if my demister works or not.

    I'll assume it doesn't.

    Demister

Thanks Dave. I don't suppose you would have a need for a rear window demister up there, not like us down here in the south. I just wondered if anyone had any experience with this problem, never mind...I can live with it.
BTW....where do I find reasonably priced used parts for my Rangie.....one item I need is an air cleaner box lid because mine is broken (at some time the vehicle fired back through it and broke it...before my time....)
    Thanks.
