    Different weight wheels!?

I have 18" hurricanes for the road, and two sets of 16" wheels that I use for offroading. All are 8". When I switched over the 16"s tonight, I noticed that the smooth spoked ones were much much heavier than the slotted wheels. Based on the pictures, does anyone know the reason for that?

There were bigger tyres on the heavier ones, but I dont know if that constituted the difference.

    wheels

I have two sets of 16's both the smooth 5 spoke jobs. On one set I have Toyo Open Country AT's 255/65's and on the others they are Good year Wrangler MT/R's 245/75. The Goodyears are way heavier than the Toyo's due to a much stronger case, thicker sidewall etc.
So it may be similar in your case.
