    replacing door mirror glass

Recently while parked, another car clipped my drivers side mirror, breaking the glass and the retaining clip on the back of the glass.
Now have new glass and new retaining clip but so far haven't been successfull at getting it back together.
Is the correct method to clip the retainer to the back of the mirror and then try to get it to clip over the round centre piece of the electric mechanism
    or is there another way.

    John

Hi John, always did it like that. Takes a bit of patience

I replaced mine a while back and it fell off a few times when offroading, thankfully caught it ok. I eventually smeared some silicone sealant to the bits which supposedly retain the glass mount before putting it back. Its been rock solid since

    Smile mirror

Well the new one is on.

A squirt of Armorall protectorant seemed to help it slip on a bit easier.

It takes more pressure than one would think ,makes you worry about breaking the glass.
