    BIRDSVILLE: mission accomplished

    Hi all

Back from the Birdsville trip i did over 2 weeks. I gotta say the P38 was proudly a real trooper on this trip out of 3 vehicles without any issues whatsoever. It hauled the Camper Trailer ever so carefully along the Birdsville track like a road train, then along the developmental road, though cordillo downs, strezlecki and through cameron corner. Heck, it even became a recovery vehicle for a stricken GU Nissan Patrol there doing a parts run to Tibooburra and back. All in all we had a 14 punture tally throughout all of us with the Rangie receiving none. The only small issue i had was the compressor rubber mounts wearing out, and dust getting into the tailgate locks, which i managed to clean out today. I was kinda expecting the air suspension to somewhat fail from the severe corrugation, dust and rocks being flicked up at it as i had a complete new set on standby, but thankfully wasn't needed. The Rangie was a bit of an eye opener to some, and the odd one out with that beautiful V8 growl amongst most Landcruisers & Patrols. Even fuel efficency wise was quiet reasonable considering we were hauling about 1 tonne of weight across sandy dessert tracks. So all i can say is, don't believe the BS flack you receive by all the others driving japanese rice burners who funnily enough seem to suffer from more issues than Land Rover owners. A proud achievment

Oh! i forgot to mention the owner of the Mungeranie Pub is also a proud owner of a 95 P38 Range Rover which is their main source of transport to the nearest town some 300+Km away.
