Hi Peter how goes it with the "r" clips. If you have trouble getting some I found a couple of sets in the shed. Let me know if you need them
Gary
I changed a leaking air spring for the first time today, pretty straight forward job, aside from the fiddly bit of trying to replug the air line.
When I pulled the old spring off, I discovered there was no 'R' clip present at the top.
Do these things have a habit of working loose and falling off, or is it more likely the last person to do this job just didn't put the R clip back on?
I was surprised to see it missing, there has been no symptoms or noises at all. I imagine that might be a different story at full articulation though.
Has anyone else had this happen?

I suspect they have left it out.

Thanks Fraser, if I need to I will.
Cheers, Peter.
I would say I have loads, but the postage will probably cost more than the clip! lol
We always fit new clips to air bags. For all they cost, it's worth doing. Especially Disco 2s.
Thanks for the clip offers, the guy at my local RR wreckers just gave me the R pin for free.
That does not happen too often these days.
Putting the pin back in, I noticed it sitting up and not going in flush.
Turns out the plate where the top of the air spring goes through has a high spot causing the pin to not clip on properly.
Will have to see to that and try to flatten the plate out somehow.
At least now I know why the last pin had disappeared.
Cheers, Peter.
One of mine (RHS) is the same. What I had to do was swap the top plate off the old bladder onto the new bladder. The old plate had shaped to fit whereas the new plate was flat and there was no way it would allow the pin to be fitted.
It took me a while to work that one out - I found it when I compared the old with the new.
