    Inspiration needed for Overland kitting

Hi, I need some inspiration (Pictures). I have a 2001 4.6 HSE. I took the air suspension out about 6 years ago after numerous problems culminating in a complete failure on a trip in Lesotho (cross between Nepal and the Khyber Pass)

Anyway, I want to remove the spare wheel from the wheel well and mount on a modified rear bumper so that it will swing out of the way. The wheel well itself would be an ideal location for a long range tank as the 90 liters I currently have limits my range considerably. I had thought that an LPG tank that fits in the well would be ideal as a ready made (no accessories for P38 available in SA due to low sales volumes) with some mods to pump the fuel to the main tank or direct to engine ala the old Jags.

I also want to close off the rear load area from the rest of the cab and remove the rear side windows between the C and D pillars and replace with steel plates with latches that will open, the reason being that I will be fitting a drawer system but will use the cube and enclose the sides of the drawer system entirely, hence the need for side access to a dual battery system.

After all that, perhaps you can direct me to a thread where I can see what you have been up to in Australia regarding the kitting of your vehicles for overland expeditions as well as your local suppliers with web sites who make kit for the P38

    Many thanks in advance

Thanks Remy, much apprecated. Is your snorkel an off the shelf item for the P38 or did you modify another make to fit?

    Cheers

I had this drawer system in mine for a while. I had an access hatch in the floor to get in to the wheel well to store some stuff around the LPG tank. My second battery is in the wheel well, too.

    See Index of /rover/p38a/drawers

The Unistrut bar onto which the drawers were bolted also lifted the drawer clear of the tailgate lip.

My long range tank is a 155 litre Brown Davis item.

My rear bar and swing away wheel carrier are from Kaymar (no longer available but I took lots of pix for you to look at).

These are only some of the pics.

I have fitted this Little Black Box from South Africa:

I bought this QT diff guard but never got around to fitting it (not a P38A diff in pic):

paulp38 on this forum can help with the snorkel, bars etc as they make it along with other P38 stuff that might interest you. I see there site is being streamlined at the moment so give him a private message and he can certainly help with ideas.

Yep, I think Paul should have duplicated the old site on another pro tem whilst getting the new site up and running.

The old site is still there behind the "slow me down" front page. Direct links to products still work, as does the cart... So I found when someone ordered a FaultMate the other day.
Other reason is due to unavailability of HRA personnel at the moment...

    Cheers, Paul.
