    Fuel Pump replacement.

    Hi Guys,
Last week the car just stopped in traffic towed to shop and found the fuel pump faulty.
I now have a brand new one, but need some advice/help. Can anyone tell me the size and length of the connector between the fuel tank and the petrol filler line as I think I should have a replacement before I remove the original as it looks badly worn. Also there is a little fitting that appears to be some sort of breather that is attached up near the petrol filler inlet via a approx 5/16 pvc open ended line. This has been broken off at the nipple connection. What does this do and are replacements available?
Any and all advice would be appreciated.
    Regards Gazza

What model? The fuel filter mechanism is in-tank post 99+ and under the drivers seat next to the chassis in pre-99 models. I can take a photo of the whole tank (removed) on a post 99 model if that will help.

    Hi Glenhendry.
It is a 1998 4.6 HSE. I would appreciate a picture of whole tank removed
    Thank you Gazza.

Not sure if you have the same setup as me as they changed about that time, or which nipple your talking about

I just replaced the pump itself and left the rest of the mech in place.

I was advised to replace the flexible hose between the pump and the top of the housing, but mine was in good condition and not showing any signs of stress like others I have seen.

The parts required are not part of the actual fuel pump.
1/The rubber? connector is the connector between the actual fuel tank and the filler pipe in the drivers side wheel well rear.
2/ The other part is behind the fuel filler on the fuel tank filler pipe, looks like some sort of breather that is connected to a 5/16 pvc open line in the wheel well.

Ahh that looks like the thingo used at the top of the system where sometimes vapour condenses back to liquid and then drains down that tube back into the tank.

Might have to hit someone up for a newy!

Sorry I completely misread your orriginal post

Sounds exactly what you described as I have been smelling fuel for a while but did not know where the smell was coming from, might just try and super glue the nipple back on?
Have you any idea of the length and diameter of the connection hose and the fuel filler line between the tank and the filler pipe as I need to replace that as the tank has to come out to replace the fuel pump and this hose is very deterioratied and needs replacing?
