How Cold is the A/C meant to be??

Strange question i know, but how good are the A/C on the P38's??

Reason for asking that mine seems to struggle a bit in extreme temperatures, and takes a while to get really cold, is anyone else experiencing this?

Mine's a "java black" colour... the thermistor probe on the multimeter registered 70 degC on the mudguard the other day in the sun in Bris (was about 30-32 deg C in the shade) ... and 55 degC in the cab just after the door was opened... a white car parked alongside registered 35 deg C on the bonnet...

Nevertheless, after 3 mins engine idling with the aircon on flat out, the air from the main (middle) console outlet was registering 12 deg C. It's a rough observation!

    hope this helps

I'll jump in on behalf of the north queenslanders! The P38 air con is excellent! Hottest of hot days and it cooled the cab down very quickly!

Mines wonderful for 5 min's then goes to crap. So I wind the window down!

I've looked at some common problem's before (like the clutch on the comp working) but they all seem to check out. Probably should get it looked at by a pro one day. Might need a re-gas or something simple.

evaporator is probably icing up. try running it on a slightly warmer setting temperature wise and see how long it lasts.

The pollen filters were changed about a week ago with no real difference in coldness.

I'm guessing a re-gas might be needed as sudgested. That leads me to the second question, does anyone know of a good A/C auto mechanic in the south eastern Melbourne area, Range Rover friendly off-course.?

Never used one yet... call AMV in Ringwood 9870 9904 they will either do it or will be able to refer you to someone decent.
    Hoo-Roo,
