It is possible you may have got a bit of water past your air intake. I would remove your air intake pipe work and dry it out and replace your air filter if it has been wet. Car may be having a hard time breathing ;-)

Clean your MAF (with MAF spray-cleaner) while your doing the dry out check... Also, get underneath and check all the elec connections you can see. The impact with the water may have dislodged something or water could even have been forced into a connector. Suggest open them up have a look and spray with contact cleaner. This may not fix the problem but its worthwhile eliminating from your list of possibles. I have only ever had slow kickdown on mrs cruiser and they have an adjuster. Not sure if p38 box has this function?

x 2...the MAF is particularly sensitive.

It is in the first section of intake piping. It's an airflow meter and vital to the tune of your engine! Got RAVE?

Follow the air intake pipe from the filter box to the inlet manifold.
The Mass Air Flow sensor* is the doovalacky with electrical wires connected to it about half way along said pipe. Carefully unplug the wiring connector then remove the MAF by loosening the large "jubilee" clips and removing the section from the inlet pipe....
    good luck

    MAF lives here

pics of removing and cleaning it, but no narration yet at MAF Clean

Isopropyl Alcohol spray is your friend when it comes to cleaning the MAF.

    Cheers, Paul.
