P38 Model Differences

personally I feel you will have to hang onto the LSE for many more years yet if its a possible money maker from a collectors point of view. Mines just a standard 94 softdash in above avergae nick, but not a show pony, and I have seen a few of them go for half what I feel its worth to me.

As for the p38, Try and get one which has been garaged, allot of the plastics are brittle on mine, it was garaged at home but outside at work.

I put my P38 up for sale but have only had one offer which was a tad low ;) But mines not the $7k+ fancy ones you see.Then again I am looking at applying for a job with a 200 kilometer day round drive so the P38 might go back to daily driver status.

So you want one. I was originally looking at a D2. After a test drive in a P38, the D2 was no longer considered. It sounds snobby, but the RR is in a class of its own. Now to find out why mine won't unlock to the fob all of a sudden.... :(

You are absolutely spot on about Rangies being in a class of their own Craig. Recently I have sat in all sorts of fourbies and none of them come close to a Rangie.

I hope that fob is an easy fix for you. :D

Most likely you will also find that "S " will have fabric uphostlry Vs leather and no sunroof. But may depend if these were an option.

I have a 1999 4.0 and a 2000 4.6 HSE.
They are both comfortable and capable. The 4.6 probably has a bit more grunt, but I drive my 4.0 in Sports Mode most of the time so it is hard to tell... I like the sound of the custom exhaust as the engine/trans winds out further ;)

The HSE has leather seats, sunroof, steering wheel controls for the stereo, subwoofer in the boot and a few more couresy lights.
The 4.0 has cloth seats and no sunroof, but it does have climate control (never seen one in Oz that doesn't), cruise control and wood-grain panelling on the doors and dash.
My 4.0 has a few HTFU extra's too, but no need to go in to them here :p

If I was doing it again, I'd get another 1999+ 4.6 HSE black on black... well, that was what I was doing until SWMBO decided it was hers.

I have been reading this with interest being relatively new to the brand and am interested as to what our Rangie is after reading the differences above.
It is a 2000 4.0, but compared to the listings earlier it is somewhere between the S and the HSE. We have the leather interior and sunroof as well as climate control and steering wheel mounted cruise control but don't have the stereo controls there or the little extras like the headlight wipers or the extra buttons mentioned in the HSE.

Ideas?

Porchy - simple! Yours is an SE with added options. I have seen an SE with all HSE options except the 4.6. Climate control was standard equipment, not an option.

Grumbles: I wouldn't think it would be any different to any black car in the bush: Impractical. Hot as hell, and shows up every speck of dirt. Black cars only look great when they're clean.
