Mine is black and as for hot as hell, Wrong, I am super cool with my lightstone leather, tinted factory Pilkington cool glass windows and working air con. The car shows the dust and dirt like any other dark colour but always polishes up a treat to look the Limo when I feel energetic enough.
As anyone who has been out with me will verify, My Rangie goes wherever there is a gap and I dont give any consideration to scratches or bush-striping. That said the Black paint work has held up incredibly and all but a few deeper digs have just polished out. Black is good.

When mine gets tooo bad (Java black) I'm thinking of getting it resprayed in the Vitesse gold or Borego yellow...fabulous colours in the subtropical Bris climate..you can put your hand on light coloured panels without getting 3rd degree burns on a sunny day... (dreamin')

Colour is a personal taste thing. Both of my P38's are dark (Black and Oxford Blue) and they are fine inside once the A/C kicks in. I guess Canberra is near enough to rural... the local yokels call it the "bush capital" among other less generous names :eek:

Cleanliness and scratches - sure, if they were show cars or less than a year old I'd be bothered. Don't get me wrong, I like to keep them clean - especially on the inside. I figure that once the paint starts to go there is not a lot of point being anal about the exterior until I get it resprayed. The blue one has come up very nicely since it's respray. The black one will get a respray sometime soon to get rid of the key gouges along the side, before/after the colour coded bumpers go on.

Craig - you are wrong. My P38's look great regardless of their state of cleanliness or presence of scratches. I look at it this way... a P38, no matter it's outward appearance, is still a great looking car.

If I thought otherwise, I might as well drive a white Camry ;)

Hoges - that yellow is a great colour for a P38, especially with the contrasting black bits.

I agree with Paul! My partner's pale red jimny is always hotter to get into than my dark blue Rangie! Non biased opinion, Rangie is the family summer car!

I have always thought that the aluminium bodied Rangies heated up far quicker than conventional metal cars. That the aluminium was a better heat absorber regardless of colour and that this made the cars interior heat up far more quickly - and hold that heat for longer.

The comments on the "black" being poles apart are very interesting. :confused:

Craig -I like your fine distinction between "cars" and "Rangies". Spoken like a true Canberrian. :D

I like the look of the "contrast" cars.
