I fixed up the bonnet lettering successfully. Mine were very faded. Use a cheap paint pen like this one. Colour in small circles, not straight lines. Two coats was good, three coats is great. I gave some corners of the letters that were especially smooth and worn a light sandpaper to make the paint stick.
