Why do I think you have a bad fuse/connection? Like it's trying to start up (bulb test) but loses voltage before it goes anywhere. Perhaps if that is the case, it never reports to message centre that it has a fault??
Straws. Clutching.
2001 Range Rover 4.0l SE in white with black interior, to replace Roger RRC, gone to a new home. Interior is excellent, everything works as it should, with a well documented service history.
I think it's a good car certainly at the right price, with 3 faults - an exterior blown head gasket, a leaking rhr air bag, and a fault I hope someone can shed some light on....
Very faint SRS light showing. Autologic details a short circuit in Circuit 2. Everything between the ECU and the binnacle checks out OK. The binnacle is fault free from what I can ascertain. All the binnacle lamps have been replaced.
Does this point at the ECU?????
Cheers to all - I'm already having fun.

Hi Pete, sounds like a nice car.
If the Autologic is you own, never mind... if not, I'd recommend you visit blackbox-solutions.com and get yourself a Nanocom with unlock codes for P38 and Disco 2. Would be a very handy $500-600 investment.
I don't know what "Circuit 2" is. Nanocom should tell you if it is left/right front/side SRS Airbag fault. Common cause of SRS fault is the wiring under the seat getting knocked. Usual fix is to unplug and reconnect the fitting.
Jury is not decided whether this automatically clears the fault or not.
A less generous theory is that the car has been in an accident where an airbag was deployed and the SRS ECU was not replaced.
Go the simple approach first.
Cheers, Paul.

Craig, the fault appears on the message centre as 'airbag fault' and has been displayed since 2007! The airbag assys do not fault up, so that wha's heading me in the direction of ECU.
Thanks, Paul. I was investigating that last night.
Cheers
Pete
ps - no prangs at all.

Paul, there will soon be a Nanocom in outer eastern Melbourne for those who may need help. but it will be Motronic one. Thanks for the advice.
It will be a brother to the td5 Nanocom well used for our D2a.
Cheers

I had the same airbag fault. It was the wiring under the drivers seat. Unplugged, replugged, still a problem. Unplugged, resoldered a few connections into new plugs, plugged back in, same problem. Was doing something else on the car, had the battery off for a couple of hours, turned it back on, no fault. Very handy considering I was driving down to the pits for an inspection in a few hours.
Cheers,
Keels.
