    Engine Disabled! averted :)

    Recently I fitted the new generation RF receiver. It fixed many syncing and interference waking woes. The car has been great ever since.

    Today I noticed that when I locked the car with the remote keyfob button, nothing happened. I locked it with the key manually when I came out still nothing with the remote fob buttons. When I unlocked manually only the drivers door came up which gave me scary memories.

    Upon trying to start the car I got the dreaded "ENGINE DISABLED" message at which time I expertly entered the EKA and all four doors unlocked and off I went. I was pleased to be able to beat it without a tow truck.

    I suspect there was a localised area of saturating interference. It was at the Regatta Hotel carpark Hoges, is ABC still transmitting across the road there?

    If it wasnt interference then it was heavy rain last night - which has me much more concerned.

    AFAIK the transmitter for ABC Radio (all stations) in the Bris area is at Bald Hills. When heading north on the Gympie Arterial /Bruce Hwy past Carseldine the mast is in a large cleared area to the east about 1km south of the Gateway motorway merge. I heard somewhere that the ABC's Coro Drive premises are deserted.

    It's quite possible that the P38 RF was just generally swamped with EMI from the heavy concentration of power lines in the area.
    I've had it happen several times locally ... where I get lots of interference on ABC AM radio 612, it's a sure bet the keyfob won't work

    It was just your car telling you not to drive after a big session at the Regatta !



    Mind you, if you can enter the EKA code successfully, then you will pass any sobriety test.

    There's a place in Bendigo like that too. It's near a CFA station.

    Hoges, what year is your car? In my 96 I can superlock it with the remote, then unlock it with the key, and it starts.
