The tailgate lock is operated bya simple solenoid. The solenoid is "blind" to the origin of the signal... straight swap should present no probs.
I am considering the replacement of the lower tailgate (part to be sourced from a wrecker) and wondered if there is any issue with the sync for unlocking and locking if the whole tailgate is swapped out. Has anyone any knowledge of this, or must I swap out the internals of the locking mechanism as well. I suspect their shouldnt be an issue as it is just sending a signal to the locking mechanism but dare to ask to be sure.

I have a spare silver one here in Brisbane if that helps. You can have it for nix if the freight is solvable.

Thanks for the offer. I am going to source it from Triumphrover spares in SA along with the other panel bits ( bumper light, fittings) I need to fix up the old girl. The new exhaust system is booked to be done next week so looking forward to that happening. Will be interesting to see how much heat reduction there will be from the ceramic coated headers.
The replacements from SA are colour matched so hopefully that will cut the time and $$ in respraying.
Thanks again
What colour parts are you after?
I bought some bits & bobs from an eBayer a few weeks ago & he's about the pull the body of his Epsom Green P38 apart.
'andrew e' in Sydney might have some suitable parts too.
