    Retractable seat belts won't!!

    Hi All

P38 both front seat belts wont retract fully and have just replaced them with 2 second hand ones that also won't retract all the way so they get caught in the doors. Is there any where that refurbishes these or any tips that may make them retract further.?? I have pulled the old ones apart and the springs are complete but just losing tension I guess. Thanks.

Mine do the same. It could be drag through the top support D-Ring. What happens if you hold the belt on the back side of the loop to stop it going back, feed the belt back through the loop, and then let go?

    Does it retract quickly?

Nissan had the same problem and released a kit for their cars.

I have yet to try it on mine.

This site suggests just washing the belts:

    Thanks Ron
Yes it will go back reasonably quickly, so maybe I,ll try the wash tip, as it sort of makes sense. Thanks again.

I haven't tried it, either. I was going to pull the retract mechanism apart, too, to look for a problem there. I'm glad you've done it and saved me the trouble.

Thanks Ron. I may have to scrub mine a bit more. They improved but not a lot.
