    P38 keypad

Hi all I'm a newbie so pls be gentle. I recently bought a P38 and the keypad doesn't work and yes tried to replace the batteries but no go. I have tried Range Rover in melb but they said they can't get them as cars too old. Does anyone have any ideas.

Does the red light come on when you push the buttons?

Hi Judi, nice to see you found the site, there is a wealth of info here and you will also come across "rangerover.net I think it is. I have also found Paul P38a very good to deal with, he is in Canberra and runs a part time business called Hard Range.com.

Find yourself an independent garage that knows Range Rovers. You will find that most of the dealers are referred to as stealers.

As to you key problem, pop the rubber push bit of the keypad and see if the little buttons are centred over the push controls or not. If not just push them back into position.

From memory, try putting the key into the ignition, then press the keyfob buttons, that should get it working again for you, provided the battery is ok.

Welcome. Be sure to post more details about your car, like model year etc, as key fob sync method is different for later models.

Some years ago, mine stopped working. A switch had broken loose from the printed circuit board so I opened the fob up and resoldered it.

    Hi Jim

Have removed the cover over the battery and there is no metal contact should there be one?
