    Another Blend Motor thread

Hi All. I have done a bit of research and diagnostics but checking to see what you all think.

My whole passenger side blows hot air (front, back, foot well, screen) and the left does the same except it's cold air. Only difference is the centre right is cool but not a cold. Assume this might have something to do with sitting right next another pipe which is hot.

Now I have been patient for a while and just turned the left or right off and kept only the face vents working depending on the temperature outside but now thinking I should really fix it.

I have a nanocom that says it is the right hand blend motor. Now this makes sense and appears to be stuck in the cold position. But there is no fault for the left side. Would that side be stuffed as well Though seeing it is always hot? I'm hoping only to have to fix the right.

Distribution seems to work well though.

There are 3 blend motors, each is independent although all 3 are attached to the same plug which goes into the hevac unit. The left and right vents should independently blow hot or cold air as called for on the control panel. Sounds like both left and right temp are stuffed. Unfortunately for you the RH side heat blend motor is a pain to get at. With a bit of preparation it is possible to get it out and fixed for a couple of A$ and 3 or 4 hours of your time. The left side one is a lot easier to get at. The Blend motors are sold as a set of 3. Dont even think about taking it to a dealer unless you have A$1500+ spare

Here is a link to my diy fix, Not sure why the pics have been removed???

Thanks wayneg. Unfortunately thats what I suspected. Originally I was hoping to buy a single unit off ebay and just cut the old one out. But it looks like the full set is best if I am replacing 2 of em anyway. I had read about the difficulties and methods, but your link/topic you gave is a good one and will read that thoroughly before starting.

Who knows I may even just do without the vemts on the right and leave my car in pieces while I try and replace the pot or little motor depending on what it is. I have access to loads of 10k pots and also various small 12V motors... Here's hoping I guess so I can save a few hundred dollars..... Or am I kidding myself and not even attempting to fix the existing one? I am reasonably electrical minded, no genious but I have some idea.

Edit: Just read some more of your post and saw you fixed it yourself.... Looks like thats were I'm heading then.
