    Locking stuffing up

I think the locking has stuffed up, the button is not working and the key will only open and close the drivers door. I can manually open all four doors but the rear remains locked. The bl**dy thing thinks I am stealing my own car. You have to love them while you hate them. They work so beautifully but it is all these silly things that are starting to question how long I own it. Towed it to the mechanic so another Christmas donation.

Checked your battery voltage or becm earth lately? Even a slightly loose battery terminal will throw weird faults and quirks!

I have had similar problems with mine and found that if the central locking doesnt work with the key then the car would need to sit and have a rest for a while . this usually coincided with the hazard lights flashing when I open the drivers door and in this mode it has usually killed the engine system. Emergency key access will not be able to be entered either.
This only happens if I am in a rush to go somewhere.

I worked out that some garage door remotes activate my car and then it goes into a defensive (I 'm not going anywhere) mode. This maybe because I do not use the fob for access and may be only due to using key access. I have found that waiting an hour and retrying it later allows for it to get over whatever issue it had and will then open as normal.
I don't recall ever having it happen when I used the fob to open.

Try the remote right up near the petrol filler flap. If you have a low transmitter signal from your remote fob this is about as close as you can get to the remote receiver.

Fault found, the fuseable links under the fuse box are playing up. My understanding of electrics is that you are not allowed to let the smoke out. If you have smoke coming of electrical wires it is not good. The auto elec place has it.

It was the main fuse box in the engine bay, the guys at the auto elecs had to hold it together as they started it up to back it out of the workshop while waiting parts for it. Apparently they are starting to give troubles. Mine is a 1998 so they decided to put a new fuse box in as a second hand one would probably be close to giving trouble again.

It seems to have fixed up a lot of other little gremlins that I use to have. Things like flash the lights at a bloke in Longreach and have the thing die. Pulled a relay or two, nothing wrong with them and then heard the radio start when I put the relay back in. Jumped in and it fired, as I was about 2,500km from home I never flashed the lights again. Probably the fuse box was the trouble.

Does not mean that every fuse box is going but it is something else for people to consider when trying to pinpoint a electrical problem.

    Yep Had the same Issue!

    WOW im not alone!

i had some smoke coming from under my bonnet and intermittantly wouldnt work with the handset which worsened to random cutting out of the entire electrical system

i found the main fuse box smoking and looked at the circuit board and it was brittle and burnt. so

CHECK your FUSE BOX CIRCUIT BOARD!!! if it looks likes its on the way out - Replace...

    Cheers
