Wayne, you can remove from front, the two retaining clips located on the top and bottom are all that hold it in place. See pic below

I am fitting spotlights and will use a 2nd fog lamp switch in the blank hole in the top left of the centre console. To possibly save me removing the console can anyone advise if I can remove the blanking plate and fit the switch from the front or must it go in from the back?

Yes, from the front. Have you bought the matching latching switch from LR as the switch used for the P38 fog light switch is non-latching.

As long as you use a switch the same as the ones already in place the housing clips you can see on the back of the blanking plate are all that stop it falling out. It simply clicks into place. That's how I finished up using the blank spot as an EAS disabling switch. The final step was to push the switch into its location.

Yep I bought a used rear fog switch, thankfully it was only $2 on ebay. Suppose I will have to look for another. Seems like the hazzard warning, eas lock and cruise all latch.
The LR aux lamp switch has a new part number.. STC8889.
Wondering if the switch fascias are interchangeable, I can get most switches from the UK for a couple of $ but the correct one is not easy to find in the breakers
Ok, I've not taken the facia off but can see absolutely no reason it shouldn't. When I was playing around with the EAS switch it appeared only to be clipped on. I could not tell exactly where the clips were though.

I've tried removing switches from the front but have never been successful. Some say you can slide feeler gauge strips through top and bottom but I haven't been able to do it that way.
I have a spare panel, do you need any pics?

The blanking plate on mine has a 10mm hole in it from a previous owner, if push comes to shove I will just bust it out. Still interested if it might be possible to swap switch fascias
Hi Wayne,
whats the big deal, it isn't that hard to undo a few screws & tilt the panel forward slightly, just enough to unclip switches from behind, sure beats the risk of breaking something by trying to force from the front! You do know how fragile LR plastics are!! Don't think they like the Aussie sun.
