Hi everyone, first time poster long time reader. I have owned my 2000 P38 for 6mths and this is the first trip away with her. All excited with the prospect getting my shiny black baby dirty I took on what I thought was an insignificant puddle. Unfortunately for me this puddle contained wheel ruts the would bog a monster truck. Long story short, I was stuck for four hours with water just above my side mouldings (will attach photo when I can). After finally getting my baby out of the stinking brown soup and attempting to start her, my starter motor literally exploded. Heres the rub. I its new years day and I need to source a starter motor in the ulladulla Batemans Bay area. Or would anybody on here have had any experience with alternative starter motors. Planetary gears and trust gear are fine as is the solenoid. The armature is totally destroyed, I was thinking it looks very similar to the bosch starter fitted to commodores. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Craig

Welcome (at last!!)
Suggest you Google "Bosch starter motor 0-001-109-040"
This is the Bosch listing equiv to LR part number NAD101190 ( MY2000 4.6V8)
You should see a reference as follows:
[PDF]
Visual Identification – Starter Motors
http://www.bosch.com.au/content/lang...ters_a.pdfFile Format: PDF/Adobe Acrobat - Quick View
Starter Motors - Visual identification guide | C167. 2010 | 2011 ... 0 001 109 040. C207 ... PAge. C168 | Starter Motors - Quick find index part no. to page no.
Don't try and load from the above shortened URL...won't work. Load from Google entry
This is a 5.7Mb Bosch catalogue (pdf) ... you need page C207 ...lower half of page has photo of starter motor with all major component reference numbers.
There ought be a Bosch service agent around the South Coast area...the local NRMA agent no doubt has a list of same..
good luck with it

Sorry for the delayed reply, I am currently camping at Lake Tabourie and internet services on the south coast are currently stretched well beyond there limit. The new year has started well thanks to Gazk (Gary) in Nowra. Thanks for the starter motor mate, will fit it tomorrow. My family holiday was looking to end in tears (for me anyway) with my pride and joy being taken back to Sydney on the back of a tilt tray. Hopefully I will be able to play in the dirt again (avoiding the big puddles though) Thanks Hoges for the info and links, got them saved for future reference. Happy new year guys![]()
