    Hevac Fans

Have lost all fan speeds, presumably both fans have stopped together.
Have read loads on other sites but am confusing myself. As both Fan have stopped I am looking hard at the fusebox, relay 7 works but is burnt and the fusebox shows the dreaded signs of long time overheating. fuses OK
Questions, do both fans stop if relay 7 and its connection go bad.
Is there a quick way to test the fans independently, I see the fans are quite easy to get at, can I just hit them with direct 12v to test, if so where.

Regardless i will be getting a replacement fusebox and in the meantime if the blowers prove ok will follow Rons repair until I can find a guaranteed used one

    Quote from RAVE

    "Left/Right Blower modules
The blowers have a permanent 12V feed to them.
The speed of the motors is determined by the control
lines which go to the motors. The motors also
provide a voltage feedback to the HEVAC ECU to
determine the actual voltage at the motors but also
to show if there are any faults."

So, in answer to question yes 12v direct to motors is OK, as it should already be present. Also check Fuse 42 and 43 in engine compartment fuse box and fusees 17 (10A) and Fuse 8 (30A) under the drivers seat fuse box.

With the warm weather forecast you're going to need more than an open window.

Good luck, I hope it's not a new control panel!

The relays are interchangeable, green for green, yellow for yellow, I would try swapping another of the same colour relays in your fuse box over with the fan relay to see what that does.
Burned relay housing means it's been very hot, which would indicate a potential heat damaged relay.
Worth a shot and does not cost anything.
    Cheers, Pete.

Done some digging and the fans work fine . No power getting to the fans so all points to the fusebox, Bugger. Now lets hope its as straight forward as Rons instructions to dismantle the fuse box for a repair. Anyone got a spare Thor fusebox they want to part with?

I have a spare here that is out on loan to a mate. Pretty sure I will get it back soon and can send it to you. When you get a replacement, send me the better of the two

Wayne, what year is your P38. I also have a spare (complete with all relays) in the garage for a GEMS 96 model. I will be South of the river later today if you want to use it until yours arrives.

Paul and Gary, Thanks for the offers, I will just hold fire on taking you up. I intend to take mine out tomorrow for a fix , if all goes well I will be ok till I get one sent from the UK. If things dont go to plan I will be in desperate need as on the 4th Feb I will be crossing the Nullabor and cant think of how hot the car will get with no fans.

Paul as you have the Thor unit I might require I will PM you if I need it if thats OK.

I cant believe I have had two offers of a loan part, as always the Landy community comes to the rescue.
