    EAS unlock software height readings

    HI All,
I have been playing around with the unlock software to adjust the heights of the suspension and understand that if the heights are programmed too high then the EAS will use a preset value to override the height programmed in. Not sure if this is right but had heard something to that effect.
As a comparison, and I am aware that the values will be slightly different for each vehicle to get to the factory set figures, but I would like to hear what others are reading at front and rear on standard and high settings as I may have pushed mine over the preset values in High mode.
I checked on a mates car and he was at about 120 on the high setting all round and I had mine in at 140 and slightly higher at the rear.

Hi Peter, the LR systems doc. for EAS has the following bit ranges for sensors as follows

    High (F) 120-180 (R) 105-150
    Standard (F) 95-150 (R) 85-130
    Low (F) 75-140 (R) 75-120
    Access (F) 50-110 (R) 50-100

the system seems to demand values within these ranges as well as some "proportional" relationship between the various heights, else the system automatically over-rides whatever and installs default values. I've never been able to work out what the criteria are, hence the adjustment strategy of one-two bits at a time!

    Thanks Hoges,
That's a much larger range than I would have expected and would indicate that my 140 plus setting on high is within range. I think I will much around with the values and see what real effect it has on the suspension lift. I am thinking of going to a larger diameter tyre and want to keep the car higher than normal to assist in possible clearance issues.

I've not explored that option but others have reported that if they raise the heights of all settings by a set percentage rather than by an absolute amount for each then the system seems to accept the new values more easily... It would be "nice" to understand the algorithm which defines the relationship between bit rates or sensor voltages and the translation into height settings...

Ill dig mine up and let you know where I'm set at as I've got an extra inch or two in high on mine that way.

All P38's will be different though due to sensor wear and tear, etc... Mine were quite different bit numbers to achieve a level ride.

    Thanks Keithy,
Mine are also a bit over the place from left to right side as I try to level it up a bit and expect that would apply to most vehicles.
I believe you are running 255 70 16 KM2 tyres which in my calculations adds 25.5 mm to the diameter from stock and gives you a 3.4% larger circumference. Not much difference for all the gear to handle as long as it still fits in the wheel well.
If you can find your data I would appreciate it.

So here's a screen dump from my Faultmate EAS Height Settings at present.

You'll see that i've gone as high as permissable in the rear (150 being the max for the sensor range in high). It also has my adjusted height settings for all the other heights as well.

When I went above the allowed values while playing with the Faultmate, the car defaulted to a factory "standard" height and all the height lights in the car came on and stayed there. It was a simple matter of clearing the fault and re-uploading previous settings and finding out via simple trial and error what I could get away with. I have the rear of the car sitting about 10mm higher in "High" than the front at those settings purely for departure angle.

Hope this gives you an insight!

I should add to this - i've just plugged the faultmate in and done a set of measurements and given myself another 30mm lift in Standard height taking the rears to pretty much the limit in the bit-range and the fronts still have heaps more to go!

    Cheers

    Thanks Keithy,
I was going to say your Standard values looked a bit low. but then I dont like sitting next to a Land Cruiser that towers above me and keep my standard pretty high at about 130 's in front and 125 in rear.
If I get the time I will do a table and give the bit values and centre wheel arch heights and see if there is a basic correlation. I know that wont be true heights as read from bump stops but good enough for me and other non purists.
    Thanks again for your readings.

Yeah i agree. I had already lifted mine in standard, just did again. This time i've measured from the top of the wheel lip to the guard.

My heights in Standard (which i've tinkered with just now) are all arond the 280mm mark.

    Cheers
    Keithy
