Has anyone been messing with the fuses on the side of the drivers seat. There is a fuse space which should be empty, if a fuse is inserted the transfer box goes into neutral, check the handbook under towing for details.
and dont forget to check the oil in the box, especially if you've been noticing its getting sluggish first up in the morning.

hi people thanks for the ideas i should have been more specific about the prob but when the car is not moving it wont select drive but i had to push the car to a safe spot and as we got it rolling it selected drive and i was able to get it home but the gear change was very hard there was no smooth change up through the gears like there should be,i thought it might be something like a low oil level.
hi people thanks to everyone for your input to my problem but i now have the scoop on the problem so here it goes initially the breather pipes for the g/box transfer case and rear diff fell across the cat and melted and sealed them in one fel swoop causing the said parts to pressurise and spitout fluid which in the case of the g/box caused the torque convertor to collapse with the lack of oil and consequently send metal shavings through the box and ofcourse sudden death so now i have to find 5 grand for a complete reco just what the sarcastic doctor ordered but thanks to everyone for the tips but and thanks for your help
I feel for you. The 'box on my Mercedes went and it took me ages to find a decent auto trans guy - there's a lot out there who don't know their stuff. I can recommend Wholesale Auto Transmissions, they did my my 'box for $2500 and it's been working like a dream for over 18 months now. Wholesale Automatic Transmissions
they are in vic, but they maybe able to ship?
just a thought.
I'll vouch for Wholesale Automatics too. They built the T700 for my Chev and its a pearler. Shipped to my door for a great price (with high stall and lockup converter unit as well).
