    Blend motors and Heater O-rings etc

    Hi

    I am going to replace my faulty blend motors and while i have it apart, do the heater core o-rings and replsce the core temperature sensor as well.

    Is there anything else I should think about replacing while i have it all in bits ?

    You can get viton orings for the heater core.
    Land Rover Parts - O RING - HEATER PIPE to MATRIX - R/ROV (P38) VITON (BETTER THAN ORIGINAL)

    The originals to me looked like rubber.

    May be a good idea to replace the phillips head with a bolt for the oring clamp, makes it whole head easier in the future, and be carefull not to do the clamp up to tight else it'll break the heater core. Found that out after the dash was back together.

    It depends. If you're taking the whole dash out I'd recommend the ac evaporator as well. They have a tendency to leak on older models in my experience.

    I was not going to remove the entire dash, since it seems it can be done without that. Dash removal looks like major surgery

    Yeah. Major for an at home job. I did blend motors last year. An awkward job but eminently do'able at home. Be prepared to hack away at the ductwork. I used gorilla tape to reseal it. I found a right angle ratchet screw driver handy. If any of the hvac or dash bulbs have blown, it's worth renewing them. Might be worth doing anyway. Also think about any extra cabling (eg spotlight switch, eas isolation, diff locker) you might want to run at the same time.

    Thats a great write up.

    I did mine a very different way. Undid srs harness and threaded into the cabin (bosch maybe different). Undid the plugs behind the driver and passenger side kick pannels and threaded passenge side dash harness under the heater unit. Disconnected centre consol harness and threaded srs ecu harness back to dash. Undid 6 bolts holding dash frame to heater unit behind centre switches. Took out air ductingn and undid 4 large bolts from behind wiper body and 4 nuts holding dash frame to floor pan.. Take steering wheel and hevac/ radio out obviously. Was about 2.5 hours work.

    This takes the whole dash and frame out and leaves the heater unit there. It gives a lot better access, and you don't need to pry off the wooden strip which ive found impossible - dont know how you did it Paul without breaking it.
