    mystery oil leak

Hi guys just wondering if anyone has experienced this issue.
I have oil dripping from top of oil filter and think it may be oil pressure relief valve.
Has anyone replaced the o'ring on this valve before and what should i expect or be cautious of when doing this job.??

    Oil cooler hose?
There is an O ring on the pipe part of the hose, its just above the oil filter.
Can say I have touched the relief Vv ever.

Check the oil pressure switch. There was an early type that failed and was replaced with a new type (and part no.)

Mine failed and it looked like the oil was coming from the filter. My engine is a GEMS.

If you pull the wheel arch liner you can see up into that area and also access the switch.

Ref replacing pressure relief valve o-ring, I have done it. However, we mustn't have refitted the circlip properly as quite some time (over a year) later, the circlip let go and the relief valve was ejected. The engine dumped all the oil in very short order.

I had exactly the same thing with mine and there was a lot of head scratching by myself and the mechanic. Eventually it was discovered to be the oil pressure switch. I'd definitely go there first!

Ive found it easy to remove the fan, belt, and tensioner pulley to get to the oil pressure switch.

Don't run the engine for too long while checking for the leak!

From what we could see it did not look as though pressure switch is culprit however I was going to replace it anyway whilst I had created easy access.
thanks for comments re clip not seating & popping out ! That could be a catastrophic engine failure right there! Must make sure this is seated correctly before reassembling everything else.

I had an issue just like you until recently, it took me ages to work it out as well.
For some reason I just didnt believe it could be the Cooler hose, it was leaking just a tad from the crimp/swage and the oil would be blown up onto the oil filler as you drove along.
