It is too warm for P38's in Europe
I know a couple of P38 owners in Germany who only use their P38's in Winter.
I've been in Germany now for around 4 weeks with a short trip into Austria and 5 days in Czech Republic. Not a p38 to be seen! I think I'm getting p38 withdrawal sickness. Another couple of weeks and I'll be back in Perth reunited with the old girl.

I did a similar trip 3+ years ago in European winter. I saw classics, but no P38's outside the UK (not sure how many I saw in the UK).
I only saw one 4wd in Czech, that was a Volvo. It was all cars and 50% Skoda. Didn't even see a Yeti outside the Skoda factory.
Just came back from UK/Ireland trip... spent a fair bit of time around
London... L320/322/Evoques EVERYWHERE...invariably black with occasional white Evoque, spotted only a few D4s of the "commercial" model... 2 doors with metal sides (no rear side glass) like a panelvan ...no P38sperhaps I needed to go further afield I suppose...
Then again with the price of fuel vs average UK weekly wages..doesn't surprise me!

There's a reason for that. Firstly, it's illegal to go off road in Germany and most likely also in Austria. Plus the high cost of fuel, registration based on vehicle size and engine capacity, high emission taxes ( bit like our carbon tax ) sadly makes the Rangies a bit beyond most people's viability range.
Makes sense, too bad though. There are lots of interesting looking trails esp. in Bavaria. I have seen quite a few Merc 4x4's as well as the odd land rover series as well as disco 3 & 4's along with defenders. Even spotted several Mitsubishi's as well as an old Nissan Patrol on the Autobahn. We went past the Patrol like it was standing still. We were 200kph+ in the BMW 330d at the time. There are also a surprising number of small Asian 4x4's such as the Suzuki and diahatsu. As well of course the ever present Lada Niva in Czech Republic (communist range rover?).

Finally some p38's. 1 in Maastricht, Netherlands (home of the "frankenburger") and 2 in Amsterdam (home of the window shoppers).
