Blend Motor replacement Melbourne
Can anyone suggest someone reasonably priced to replace the blend motors in my P38. I have purchased a new set of 3 so just need the labor component.
Anyone had it done recently and can give me an idea what it may cost for labor
Thanks

Marty at Rova range (east bentleigh) knows the job. I recall he quoted me about $500. I ended up doing the job myself. It's not too technically challenging - just a bit awkward.

Hi
I just did mine and it took us 6 hours with two of us working on it.
It's not an impossible job, but some parts of it are awkward.
While we were there we replaced the heater core o-rings and the core temperature sensor as well, may as well do those while it is all in bits !
So i reckon $500.00 for labour is a fair price
Good luck

Have you hooked up a fautmate to see which blend motor is the problem?
The passenger side one is not too hard to change without cutting anything, the drivers side might be a bit harder with the brake pedal and steering wheel to contend with.
I try to not disturb things too much under the dash unless they really need attention, the chance of breaking plastic goes up with the age of the car, which is why I would suggest only replacing the blend motor that is not working.
Of course there is nothing wrong with replacing them all if you really want to, personally I like the saying 'if it aint broke don't fix it'!
There is a lot of info on replecement shortcuts, which save pulling the entire dash out, here is an excellent guide I used myself:

Hi
Strangely enough I take the opposite view about replacement.
Given the amount of time and effort it requires to take it apart, my approach is to replace whatever I can while it is in bits.
My reasoning is that if one of the perhaps 15 yr old blend motors is failing then the others are not likely to be in great shape either.
Again while it is apart is a great chance to change another problematic item, the heater core o-rings.
It would drive me nuts if i replaced one motor and then a few weeks later another
failed.

Hi
This job done on my P38 about 6 years ago by an Auto lec in Carlton. Not sure if he is still operating, but was very reasonable price wise. I am not at home just now but will be at the end of the week. I can look up the contact details then.
Have you made any arrangements ?
Worth considering what you can get at, i.e. heater core O rings, while the (yes, brittle) plastic is off.
Cheers
