Welcome Burgandy8, Sure you will get plenty of sound advise on here if you get stuck when fixing your new toy up. Put up a pic of your new baby.
He fellas, new guy here, just got my hands on my first LR, she is a '99 4.0, Oxford Blue with brown interior. She is in fairly good shape but needs a little TLC to bring her back to her previous pristine state. love the challenge, just need to get through this winter then will spend all next summer working on her. Looking forward to all the advise i can get from the brain trust on this forum.

Hi Mike,
Welcome to the best and most infuriating vehicle on earth, good luck and enjoy, it will be worth it.
Looking forward to seeing some pictures
First question.....still trying to use the search feature here so go easy on me. Previous owner had his garage remove the front drive shaft because it came loose apparently after the truck was secured badly while being towed by a flat-bed truck.
My question is, can I just locate and new shaft and bolt it back in place, or is there and particular procedure for installation.
Welcome aboard mate.
This is possibly just about one of the best places to be for a P38 owner in need of advice.
All the best,
Simon.

Putting the driveshaft back on, no problem there just bolt it up. However, before going for a drive check your Viscous Coupling. My guess would be that the Viscous Coupling has seized and as a way of staying mobile the previous owner has disconnected the front prop shaft. I have recently just had to replace my VC. My VC did just the opposite recently and remained open (apparently very unusual). You may want to check out my thread and some of the advice I got from other members along the way No drive. Whilst not an overly complex task, certainly not my favourite.

Will get her on a lift this weekend and have a look.

This is the place for P38 ownership. These guys are the go to brains on the net. I've dropped in on a few forums from around the world but of course the Aussies are punching above their weight as usual! And once you get the search worked out you are really in business. That's not to say they guys wont jump up and help whenever they can.
Enjoy![]()
