    Exhaust Manifolds

    Hey all,

In the process of changing a leaking head gasket I also will be fixing or replacing the exhaust manifolds. I was wondering if it is at all possible to remove the dreaded flex joint & TIG weld a patch in it's place.

I have looked at extractors & they do not have a join between them so I was wondering if it was at all necessary?

And finally to finish the job get them ceramic coated to keep the heat down & do away with the bloody heat shields.

    Thanks Steve

    Hi

I suspect that LR put them there for good reason, but it may be a case of over engineering.

One would think the flex in the exhaust mounts should be enough to protect the exhaust system from too much stress
