Should have rotated the tyres earlier!

I decided to rotate the wheels today (front to back, back to front only) so put it on the hoist and whipped them all off.

I then thought, perhaps I can check the brake pads.

Fronts have plenty of meat left on them.

The rears not so. They were down so far that the metal rivet holding the springs was wearing the discs. I hadn't noticed any noise.

    Fortunately, the discs are OK.

That's down to too much weight over the rear axle.

I can fix that for you .

Now that is what you would call getting the most out of your pads.
Surprising you didn't hear anything. Or feel it?

    Exactly!

When I got home from the workshop, I found I had a set of pads on the shelf. I didn't need to buy new ones.

Scouse mentioned at lunch today that the P38A seems to wear rears faster than fronts - so maybe I'll be OK next the next time (in another 100,000km).

Sorry, when I stopped by where Scouse was having lunch.....

(I came from behind so he didn't see me and go and hide.)
