Door locks
Hi guys,
Been a while since I was last on. Move to Ballarat went smoothly and in the middle of restoring a caravan, so the P38 has taken a bit of a back seat and she's not happy!
Today the driver's door refuses to unlock. The door latch has recently become quite stiff, but the locking mechanism has always worked well.
Part of the problem is trying to get the door to unlock to be able to remove the panel, it's a bit Dukes of Hazzard at the mo.
Second thing is what is the problem? Solenoid? Door Handle?
Can anyone help?

Hi poleonpom, glad the move went well.
Have you had any other symptoms like door locks jumping up and down on their own, or tailgate button not working sometimes?

Thanks for the links Steve
Peter, no issues with the locks at all prior to it breaking, although it was in the hands of the wife when it happened. ..

If you weren't getting any weird issues other than the door lock jamming, once you get it open, it may just need some graphite powder in the door lock barrel if you are lucky...I would also pull the inner door panel off and give the inner workings of the latch area a good dose of silicone spray.
If it does need a new latch, it's not that hard to replace, although the top wire rods can be a bit tricky to get off and on.
There's a good read here on it, the trick was to undo the inner door handle screw and pop out the lock end of the door handle, makes things much easier!
If you ever need to replace your driver's door latch .....

Fingers crossed. Not going to be able to have a look until the weekend. Until then it's Dukes of Hazzard entry and exit, trying to get the wife to dress like Daisy...

I had an issue with the drivers door a while back. The aluminium alloy lever that unlocks the car with the key snapped inside the door cavity. The car would open with the remote - fortunately. Could it be?
