    ball joint enquiry

hi all,i don't suppose anyone out there has replaced the b/joints on the front axle,is it a big job?i had a look at the manual and I get the impression that the hard part would be sourcing the tool to remove them, is there an alternative way to do the job or should let a mechanic at it?any thoughts would be appreciated cheers.

You need the correct tools to remove / refit the ball joints. Check on ebay. A couple of spare axle seals are also needed as well as a "deft touch" when it come to measuring the centre of the hub to the axle centre alignment after the ball joints have been replaced... If they're out more than a smidgeon then you'll get leaking axle seals. Have a look at RANGEROVERS.NET HOME "common fixes"...there are detailed write-ups and plenty of pictures to guide you... use that forum's "custom google search" to find it...
