    EAS query

    Hi all,

I recently rebuilt my valve block due to some weird issue that when standing still the front suspension went up and down on its own accord.

Turned out that someone had put one of the solenoids in the wrong place.
All went back together and seems to be working as expected except for car is on bumpstops each morning now.

I have unplugged the delay timer and left car overnight and it is down on the bumpstops, not unevenly, just all the way down.
Suspension works normally although pump is working more than it should whilst driving.

Tank seems to be holding presure as car goes up quickly in the morning.

Can anyone advise? Is this a bad NRV? Diaphragm? wrong sized o-rings?

I have done usual checks and no external leaks anywhere.

    Cheers in advance.

There has to be a leak. Have you sprayed the exhaust silencer? Dollar to a cent, it'll be one or more of the 10 x 1mm O rings that sit within the solenoid valves. Those pesky ones.

    Hi

Do you have a pressure gauge on the main line?

    It's a big help

I'm willing to bet that it is the solenoid that has the rubber plunger at the bottom of the shaft.

I've got a similar issue with mine where the compressor seems to be running more than it should. The plunger part you cannot buy anywhere, trust me I've looked everywhere on this planet. But you can go to either Clark rubber or similar shops and buy those small rubber stoppers or feet for electrical appliances. You just cut the heads of them and your left with a cylindrical shape rubber plunger. You may need to sandpaper it a little to size, but should do the trick. I'm still yet to do mine, as I'm still addressing the transmission issue, but that'll most likely be the issue.

@SteveFarmer, No, unfortunately I don't have a pressure gauge on the main line, might have to invest in one.

@davidsonsm, When everything is static, with door open, I removed silencer, and covered outlet with finger and noticed no pressure build-up. It just seems strange that all corners go down all together and isolated from the 'smart' electronics too.

Really starting to think that o-rings I got off e-bay were not 100% to spec and all solenoids are leaking internally.

I am presuming that the solenoid should hold the spring pressure and barring any leaks at the spring or pipe connection to block, it will be the solenoids?

Can anyone recommend a good reliable source for the o-rings? or the specifications so I can purchase here in OZ?

    Cheers.

@redandy3575 Just wondering if yours also goes to bumpstops overnight with system disabled?

Chances are it will be the 10 x 1mm O rings internal on the solenoid valves. I bought a stack of Viton material O rings in this size, but Nitrile will do the job just as well. They are definately the correct size.

PaulP38a on here is probably the most reliable source for O rings.

Whilst in Home I also noted they sell sheets of various types of rubber (neoprene included). The sheets have different hardness factors. I reckon they'd match the rubber in the end of the solenoids - if you took them a sample. I've repaired one solenoid by hole stamping (6mm from memory) a pellet from a sheet of rubber, and gluing it in. And then doing the good ole wet and dry on the pedestal drill.

    Thanks for this @davidsonsm.

Looks like I need to strip it all down again.

Will give it a go as soon as I can as I don't want to wear out my new compressor..
