    Red face Dash Lights

You may recall I brought a HSE for $5.5 K with one of the problems being no dash or console lights. The suggestion was to source a second hand PCB - that part on the back side of the Speedo, Rev Counter etc. I ended up leaving it up to MR Auto at Kipparing and they solved the problem. The mechanic isolated the wire that fed power from the computer to the dash etc lights, bared the wire and applied 12 volts as a check. The lights lit up and then when he removed the 12 volts the lights decided to work. He figures a diode or whatever has been woken up.

If the diode whatever goes to sleep again I would imagine bypassing the computer altogether and applying power to the cable will allow for dash lights again.

Store this in your how to fix weird problems file.

I am/was an electronics tech and I've never heard of a diode being woken up!

    Hi

I was going to make the same comment as Ron, but thought "hey it's working so let it be"

As far as I know diodes don't sleep

Most likely he fixed a poor connection while he was rooting around

Yep, agree with both of you - just happy to have lights again
