I just had a look. My 16" x 8" 5-spoke rims are embossed 920 kg max load rating. This info is on the back side of one of the spokes.
This is my P38A.

Hi all P38 gurus,
Bit of a long shot, but does anyone know the load rating for the 16x8 alloys? Preferably the early 5 spokes, but any info would be really helpful.
I need the info for a disc conversion I am doing, to confirm with the engineer that these wheels are suitable.
Thanks.
Ian.

Don't forget the lifted wheel scenario is a fairly low speed/static scenario. The 920kg rating would be put under far more cyclical stress when doing 100kph towing and fully loaded.
Fantastic - AULRO always comes through!
I had been assuming load rating on the wheel is 50% maximum axle load, which on a P38 is 1840kgs rear (1320kg front) = 920kgs. Coincidence?
The VASS engineer (based on Vicroads guidelines) requires me to calculate the max load based on GVM/wheels. GVM = 2780kg, wheels = 4, so max load = 695kgs.
On my modified vehicle, GVM = 4320kg, wheels = 6, therefore load rating is 720kgs or 25kgs more. Hence my problem.
Knowing now that each wheel is rated to 920kgs will help immensly.
Thanks again.
Ian.
The 18" x 8" RRS rims I've been running recently (see below) have a load rating of 940kg.
I'll start up a thread in The Good Oil to try to capture this information

I really like the 18"s, but ultimately it needs to be 16"s as i will be running 35" tyres.
Shame really![]()
