    Air Conditioner

As you all know my P38 was off the road for nearly 6 months while i was repairing the transmission. Due to such a long stint of the road and the Air con not being used, I noticed today no cool air coming out, and a bit of a gas gushing noise from under the dash. When inspecting the compressor, it was running as it should with both front fans going. When I accidentally touched one of the return pipes on the compressor, I nearly burned my hand. It was that hot I reckon you could've fried an egg on it. I've never witnessed this pipe ever so hot.

Has anyone else had this experience before? If so, could this be the issue with my air con, perhaps a gas leakage or something else?

It sounds like it's just low. They do get hot when they're running low, but it's obviously not empty as the pressure switch allows it to run.

Sounds like it's working ... check the mixer flaps in the dash. Wouldn't it be short cycling if it was way low on gas. suction/discharge behing hot/cold is normal.

Tx valve may also be sticking or the oil seperator may have gummed. (tho the latter is unusual

Good call, drier could be partially blocked which will cause similar symptoms.

If the drier is blocked often you can feel a temperature difference between the inlet and outlet pipe.

More than likely though the system is short of refrigerant.

As for oil seps,i hate them, they seem to be installed on systems that don't need them, all they do is cause other issues.
On low temp systems they are fine IF installed correctly.

Hmmmmm yes!! Sounds like low gas.

It must have a leak somewhere if that is the case.
