    ride height adjust help

my friend just got a new p38 which has its original air susupension intact.
when you press the button the light flashes to go high and low whatever you choose but it doesnt seem to move the height.. the easiest way to tell is focus on a spot on the wall and see if it changes or just get out and look obviously
there are no faults on the dash either.
I sense trouble but how bad?

The change can take up to 30sec if all is well with the system.

If the tank pressure is low, it can take 5-10min to build up from scratch.
If the pressure is low, then it's leaking out somewhere which will make the compressor work hard to keep up supply.

Could be the compressor needs a rebuild if it's slow to adjust the height. You'll find rebuild kits on ebay and it's a simple and cheap job

Get yourself an eas cable and software from e-bay. Once set up and connected to the car have a look at the various ride hight settings, make sure there is a difference. With the software you can get the car to go to different hight settings or just move a corner at a time. You can adjust the hights to the level you want and then store them
The car should drop immediately if the doors are all closed and engine running after pressing the dash switch. Going up can take a few second and longer if the air tank is depleted.
If nothing is happening make sure all doors and tailgate are correctly shut

I presume the engine is running, not just the ignition "on", that all doors closed and gearbox is in neutral or park with only handbrake on..not foot-brake? There are interlocks to prevent suspension movement if doors are not closed and/or foot is on brake...

I agree with everything the lads here have said.

One thing I'd suggest is to start the engine, leave the vehicle in Park with the handbrake on. Leave the drivers door open for 5 or 10mins. After then, jump in and attempt to raise the vehicle to high. Do not touch the brakes or gear lever. And make sure the doors are all closed when you attempt it.

Let us know how you go.

Compressor could be buggered if it takes much longer to fill the air tank.

    Cheers
