Here's the cruise control info from the ETM (after the starting & charging section). There's a diagnostic section at the end.
Hi There,
Got another P38 a few months ago, 1996 4.6 HSE has varying small PITA issues, two of which are
1. The Cruise control for the main doesn't work, actually since ownership it has worked once, I had tried to engage cruise on a few occasions without success, randomly I was driving down the freeway, pressed both buttons and the cruise came into operation held possibly for about ten minutes and then just switched off, hasn't worked since. I've checked the flexihoses and haven't found anything obvious. I have searched this forum and Range Rover.net there is a lot of information spread all over the place about testing the system, is there one document anywhere that covers all the testing?
2. Door locks, when the remote is pressed the two back doors lock / unlock, indicators flash etc, both front doors remain unlocked. With the key used in the drivers door, the drivers door locks / unlocks and both the back doors lock / unlock. The front passengers door is purely manual operation no matter which way I do things. The rear hatch locks and unlocks with the key and the remote.
So what is my best way forward, I would prefer not to have to replace the remote "system" if I can help it. Please tell me it is just a fuse..........
Thanks in advance for any assistance rendered.

Hi Scott,
Thank you......... a bit of light rading................![]()
Thereardoor locks are controlled by the BECM. Hopefully it's the actuator part of the lock that's failed though.
I'd be tempted to try a replacement lock (2nd hand) before anything else.

Could it be as simple as the linkages failing or becoming disconnected within the door void? Well worth having a nosey after removing the door card. There is a linkage from the central locking actuator and a separate one from the key.
Hi There,
That's what I like, a possible simple and effective repair, great thank you, this solution is right up there with replacing a fuse.
