Bummer

Sorry to see that striker, especially having gone through same....I replaced virtually the whole cooling system, radiator, water pump, viscous fan...etc.etc..before I got him right......hope they find the problem whilst it's still warranted ......best of luck.

That's not the most comforting thing I've read.
Also, there's no warranty that I'm aware of. I bought the car cheap, and "as is".
Does your needle move much since fixing it?
TheTree - The viscous fan seems (from a novice point of view) to work. The plan is to drop it back at DPL, and see what they find, unless someone has some good ideas.

My needle is straight up the middle and doesn't move, even in today's heat after the changes as stated. If you don't have warranty please make sure the people know what they are doing as most will just throw parts at it. After it cools down is their any coolant loss?.......this was the last problem I had recently....I now have an original...

I haven't checked the reservoir, but there's never been water under the car after I've parked it. I'll have a look at the levels tomorrow, once it's had a good chance to cool down.

Ok mate.....if you have a problem with the cap the water should steam and you won't see water as it steams from the overflow....you should have a loss of water in the reservoir when it cools down.

The dashboard gauge is notoriously slow to react and shouldn't be relied on. Hope you've not damaged the engine.
Are you saying that you've been experiencing overheating, and you've not checked the reservoir level?
Curiosity got the better of me, and I checked the coolant level. It's about an inch and a half from the top of the reservoir.

Mate that looks OK
There is a mark which says "cold level"
So if you are not losing coolant, the viscous fan coupling is OK, thermostat and radiator are good, my money is on a failing water pump
Best of luck mate
