Steve, when you say you swapped out the BeCM, duo you mean just the upper power board?

Hi mate no we swapped the entire BECM and the ECU from the other car.

Turns out the original ECU is a bit screwed sadly.

I am now in the hunt for a 99 GEMS ECU

That could be hard to find. GEMS is up to 1998MY only.

Have you had the volt meter out yet? I'd be checking those two wires on the side of the BeCM - that take their feed via the maxi fuses.

Thought I'd read that Shirley had put a new fuse box in the car.

Let me know if you want to try a known good spare fuse box that I have.
It just happened again yesterday so I think i will take you up on the offer of the fuse box mate

One problem is that if I turn the ignition off and on again it all comes good, so nothing to check with a meter sadly

I can now confirm it's related to the fuse box.

It happened in a spot where I could pull over and open the bonnet, I wiggled the fuse box and hey presto everything came back on !

    Steve,

I missed your earlier post. Long story, but I sold the used fuse box I obtained from the UK via ebay - but posted it to the wrong address (not completely my fault I might add). Good chap that I am, I've sent the buyers my original fuse box - hoping the wrong address people return the UK one "to sender".

I've fitted a new one on mine. If I get the UK sourced fuse box back, you're welcome to try it/buy it. I'll let you know how I go.

    Regards. Sean.

That wouldn't be the fusebox to Ballarat would it?

    Hi Sean

Thanks for your kind offer, I bit the bullet and ordered a new on from island 4x4 but it has been sitting in "processing" status for days now, so who knows when it will arrive

It happened to me again today as I was about to pull onto the M1 so the sooner I can isolate this issue the better!

    Steve
