P38 key issues.
Hey everyone,
When I bought my 1996 P38 Rangie, I didn't pay much attention to the "key battery low" warning on the dash. It's now a bit ove r amonth later, and I've thrown in some new batteries.
I'm still getting the key battery low warning, and when I press a button on the key (to lock or unlock the car) the red light flashes on and off rapidly. The light never came on with the old set of batteries.
Any ideas?

the red light is supposed to flash when the buttons are operated but how they flash shows if the battery is low or not (have a look in the owners hand book). what number battery did you use? the correct ones are 2025, 2016 are too thin, 2032 are too fat. the batteries should have 3.2v each (it only says 3v on the battery) when the get down to 3v they start to give problems. the cheap Chinese batteries also give problems.

Just replaced my batteries as had the same warning, I took too long to insert the new batteries and the remote came out of sync ( I found that applying moisteriser to the new oring made things a lot easier as I destroyed a few rear caps) The remote flashes during operation, but flashes at a faster rate for some resyncing processes. Mines a 2000.
